Sabers Farms
At the age of 22, Kevin Sabers was working in a window factory. One day his uncle Jim Bussan called and asked if he wanted to be a farmer. Bussan, who owned 850-acres near Galena, Illinois, had no children. Sabers accepted the offer, quit his job, and became a farmer. From the first day Kevin loved it.
Since his uncle passed away, Kevin farms by himself, but still follows his uncle’s advice to “always be good to the animals and to the land.” He raises certified Angus beef and grows 160 acres of corn, 180 acres of hay and 60 acres of beans, with the balance of the land in pasture.
