Arnold's Farm
After several years of conventional farming, Tom Arnold realized he needed to get creative. The only way for his 480-acre family farm to survive financially was to add value to the products being produced.
Striving to farm in harmony with the land and natural terrain, Tom and his wife Jessica, decided on a diverse mix of livestock which they would sell direct to consumers. They began raising animals and feed crops using sustainable farming methods and without the aid of antibiotics, hormones or animal by-products.
Tom and Jessica’s direct-to-consumer sales program has flourished over the years. Originally selling sides of beef and pork to relatives and friends, they now offer cuts of beef, chicken, lamb, pork and turkey from their small farm-based retail shop. They also sell at local farmer’s markets and even deliver to select drop-off points throughout the Chicago area.
